Heyguys, i finally picked up my 86 SPG today and it's great. It shifts so smooth and the clutch has never felt better. Here's the problem, as i drove home and it got dark and I realized that in 5th gear my reverse lights are on ... damn it never ends with these cars eh? :) I couldnt find anything when i partially opened up the console so i just disconnected one of the leads to totally turn off the reverse lights. My friend who did the job said he's never encountered this problem and the car which the whole assembly came from didnt have the problem.
2nd problem, and this is more urgent... before the gearbox died, the turbo was boosting well and working fine, APC was backing the boost off like its supposed to after you floor it. Now since i got the car back, the only thing that's been done is the addition of the Bosch 20PSI BPV. Now, the APC wont back the boost off and it goes far into the red until the fuel cut happens and i get the dash in my face! Damn! The turbo was off with the exhaust manifold to replace the gasket. It was just put back on and the vacuum lines were connected properly.. i double checked. Everything looks ok. What would cause this? I'm running everything stock. Would it be that new BPV? I can hear it expelling the air like a BLOW OFF VALVE when i let off the throttle. Should i hear this with a BPV? Please help guys/gals! Btw, the BPV was replaced because the original was shot.
