I have an 88SPG,157k that had fluid like 120wt, it would have made good silver metalic fleck model paint. I changed lube (not knowing what the original was( before reading this board)) to castrol synth. 20-50wt motor oil. Then I read this board, the trans was whinning afterwards but shifting fine (in for about 200 miles). I changed to mobil 1 75-90 synth gear lube and the whinning is better but the syncro in 2nd and 3rd don't want to mesh when it is cold( 0-20 deg.F)(western wisc.) If I pause in neutral for a sec. it is much better. My question is should I change again with compressor oil then some other synth. gear lube that is better for cold climates?
I have been reading this board for about a month and the info. has been VERY valuable.
Tony
