Shift Up light again.........

Hi again.
Justin v. A. was kind enough to give me some advice last time re: my in-op upshift light, but unfortunately, I'm not having much success getting it to work. You're wondering why I want it to work...it's just how I am. Yes, I've driven cars with them and though I think I can manage to shift without blowing the motor without it, it's the principal of the thing at this point.
Here's what I know:
The light (and thus the fuse) definately works because the temp. sensor also works. The light kicks on briefly just when the temp gets warmed up. The wires going to the fifth gear thing on the transmission are in place and the connection seems good. The relay is securely seated, though I have not tested it or another one to verify that the relay is good, but since that's not a high fail item, I haven't pursued that.
There's a little dohicky (the technical term) right near the APC box and nothing seems particularly unusual about it (some of your cars may have a red cap, mine's capless).
I'm not sure where else to look... any other thoughts?
