all saabs in '86 were wired for foglights. If your car has a switch in the dash, it probably had foglights installed at one point. Check to see if there's a foglight relay in the fusebox (likely so if the dash switch is installed) and look for the light mounting brackets (bolted to the back of the front bumper and sticking out below the bumper near the towing "rings."
The foglight wiring connects to the wiring harness via 2-conductor "D"-shaped bullet connectors at the front edge of the engine compartment. The passenger side is near the ground point (follow the ground strap from the battery) and the driver side is down in there somewhere (I can't remember any landmarks offhand.) If you're lucky, these wires are already hooked up and tied to something near the mounting points for the lights themselves.
The wiring for the dash switch is located behind the socket immediately beneath the headlight switch. Pop out your switch and see if it's plugged into the wiring harness.
So take an inventory- in addition to the dash switch, you'll need:
a foglight relay
bumper mounting brackets
2 foglight assemblies
wiring from lights to engine compartment
It's an easy and satisfying DIY project.
