I wish I had a wiring diagram for that year....
But I feel that there is not a lot of other stuff connected to the downstream side of the foot brake...except the stop lights. But the stop lights are wired in common with the tail running lights when it comes to the ground wire on one side of the bulb sockets. All you need is what would appear to be a non-operational light (actually a bad car body connection) and the power of the foot brake circuit would pass thru the brake bulb filiment of the brake bulb. But because of the bad body wiring on the other side of the bulb but a good connection to the light next to it (running light) it would would power back a voltage thru the running light bulb and back into the electrical system if the light switch was in the "on" position. Think of the two bulbs connected in a "Y" configuration with the stem of the "Y" as the body grounding connection. If the stem wire was broken, an applied voltage to one of the top "Y branches" would just feed thru and back out the other top "Y" branch even if that branch was depowered (car off). At least just enough power to keep the car running. I know this sounds "nuts" but these are some of the problems that when someone designs these things can creep into some unusual conditions.
For the brake lights, there is usually only one wire coming into one of the brake light bulb socket from the brake pedal. All other lights are generally fed from that light bulb connection . For a test, I would suggest you pull the brake wire off that brake light bulb from the front of the car. I believe this wire is on the back left brake bulb since I believe that SAAB brings the wire from the front to this location. See if you can tell which is the "jumper" wire to the other bulbs and which is the feeder wire. Anyway, pull off the feeder wire...don't let it short to the car body and test to see if the problem went away. That will tell us if we are on the right track...if it goes away...then one needs to look at the bulb socket wiring very carefully...
