Replacing gauge needles

I pulled my gauge panel out and apart to start working on my own faces (not planning on offering any for sale, I like have the one-offs, so noone needs to worry about losing profits, lol), any way, when I put the gauges back together, it seems like the speedo is reading 10-15mpg high all the time. I pressed the needle on just a little below the stop pin, and pulled it over the pin, giving it just a little bit of tension on the return spring. Is it just me, or is there some "special" way of resetting the needle?
