Yeesh. I thought I had beaten the "mysterious coolant patch" on my driveway but it has returned from the grave.
I replaced waterpump and heater hoses about a month ago and did not see any trace of the mysterious coolant leak for several weeks. I noticed a fair sized one yesterday when starting up the car in the morning. But in keeping with its mysterious nature-no trace of any leak this morning.
I'd hate to think the new water pump is leaking-that was a bear to replace-if you remember my post on the unco-operative alternator and AC bracket (never could get the 12mm nut loose to remove the AC bracket). In sealing the gasket I made sure I got sealant on both sides of the water pump gasket for a good seal.
Leak seems to be forming on the ground in the area below the water pump. Any thoughts on it's origin or should I resign myself to the occasional coolant patch?
Every coolant and heater hose c clamp was tightened with the exception of the one going into the back of the water pump below the AC bracket when I replaced the water pump. Since it did not appear to be leaking at that orifice, not being able to tighten the clamp seems moot. Should I take the car to Lourdes for a miracle cure?
