I live in Ontario, Canada and every two years we have to get our cars clan air inspected. Well early this week I took my 1987 900T/convert to a local chain to perform this simple task. I was told that it would take approx 1/2 hr so I decided to wait. While drinking coffe and reading the paper the fire alarms went off and they started evacuating the store. The problem was that the person performing the test had applied the hand brake (front wheels on my Saab) and performed the test with brakes on. The pads actualy burned with flames and lots of smoke. The shop did aknowledge that it was their fault and replaced at no charge ofcourse, the rotors, pads and some other minor parts. The amazing news is that despite all this my Saab passed the clean air test. The service manager and others where amazed someone said that the test was performed as if my Saab was towing a Winebago. I also found out that this major chain with a very busy shop of approx 12 persons only had one licensed mechanic.
