Tracing out the 1/4" vac lines on a 86, 8V Posted by Dana [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Ok, Ok......
Side of intake manifold has two hoses...one larger which goes to brake vacuum boost. Second hose is 1/4" about 10" long going to plastic hose coupling tee. From this coupling tee the 1/4" hose from the intake manifold is split into two main 1/4" vacuum hoses. One 1/4" hose from this coupling tee has long hose to vacuum bottle. Other tee hose "picks" up three vacuum devices to connect them to the intake manifold vacuum. As it picks up a devices an additional coupling tee is used to connect the device.
The devices are:
1. the fuel enrichment vacuum switch under the fuel filter located on the driver side wheel well.
2. The shift up vacuum switch located on the drivers side wheel well.
3. The fuel cutoff valve located in the fuel distributor bypass hose...the bypass hose is the hose which connects the side of the air filter canister to the side of the large rubber air intake cowling from the top of the fuel distributor to the intake manifold.
