Alan,
Your car will become an instant lowrider. Really hard to steer when you can only control one wheel.
If you are seriously bucks-down, the lowers are the ones that wear the quickest. You can buy them for 25 bucks apiece(for good ones)and a pickle fork for five dollars more. You can do the whole thing in two hours or less.
Do it even if you get rid of the car. That 50 bucks will look like money well spent if it keeps a lawyer from your front door after the next owner experiences failure and hurts him or herself.
Bentley, Haynes, Chiltons, Clymers, EVERYBODY outlines the procdure.
Good luck.
JD
