the apc is supposed to drop boost to about middle of yellow if it detects knock (base boost, 5.5psi, check base boost setting) as well as enable operation on 87 octane at reduced power. It's possible someone has screwed up the wastegate rod to override base boost. Or you got a bad batch of high octane or put in a tank of low octane gas.
