SPG9 AID install and thermostat replacement

Sunday afternoon follies.
Thermostat replacement because temp seemed low all the time. And last year in Tremblant the @#$% car was cold all the way to Montreal until the sun came up. The new thermostat didn't improve things, guess it really IS an 82C 'stat. OTOH, it sure doesn't run hot. Check with hand-held infrared thermometer indicates 170-175 degF at the a/c switch on the upper radiator hose.
Removed the distributor and replaced the little plastic connector for the Hall switch and installed the new AID advance/retard can. Installing the connector was easier than on my cam-rear volvo engine distributor. I used a pop-rivet to locate the connector on the distributor body...interesting that the distributor has a hole in it much larger than the hole on the connector so the pop rivet doesn't 'hold' anything, it just locates the connector so it can't slide up and out/off. Now I need to reterminate the harness end and fabricate a boot for the harness connector. Have to do the same for the throttle body idle switch connector, probably just slather both with silicone seal.
The AID install was easy with the distributor out. Reinstalled the distributor in the engine and retimed to 20degrees initial advance at idle and went for a drive. The change appeared subtle Sunday, i.e., didn't appear to make large torque gains, but it worked very well on the Monday am commute. Kept on hitting the fuel pump cutout if I mashed the throttle, ok if I feathered it to past 3000 rpm, held about 1/4" into the red. Guess it's time to screw in the cutout to 20psi and go to the 18psi wastegate control....
