Mindless.
Loosen the clamps on the two hoses.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
Loosen the nut holding the AIC on the thermostat housing.
Slide the AIC out of the clamp (rubber ring comes with it) and disconnect the two hoses...careful if the hose to the intake manifold gozinta a plastic elbow. The elbow is NLS and is replaced by a brass elbow that has to be epoxied into the manifold if you break it...and the plastic one is brittle by now!
Then squirt carb cleaner into the side hole and bottom hole and twist the aic quickly in your wrist, i.e., utilize the inertia of the valve in the aic to get the valve to open and close. If it's really stuck you may have to use a piece of wood like a popsicle stick to move the shutter valve (something harder may scratch it and make it stick worse).
When I reinstall them I take the rubber ring off the aic and install it in the clamp, then slide the aic into the clamp/ring.
Connect/fasten everything up and awaaaaaaaaaay you should go with a stable idle.
