Before you start going crazy with all sorts of aftermarket goodies, remember the basics. Make sure you have a good coil, plug wires, cap, rotor, and plugs....you might want to upgrade to the ngk bcp7ev's. Make sure your fuel and air filters are good. I always set my timing to the factory spec....something like 14-16 (cant remember now) degrees BTDC. Maybe advance it a degree or two. I have seen so many saabs that people have the timing advanced like 5 degrees on and the run like crap, poor boost, and no acceleration.
I have found that above 15lbs of boost not much is gained in the way of power. Even running a different intercooler and more fuel from about 15 to 20 psi the car just makes heat. I got some of the "blue" bosch injectors...these are actualy ford motorsport injectors that you can get from Summit racing....$209 for a set of 8. I have not bothered to put them in yet since my clutch cant hold the power i have now.
but try the easy stuff first. I have a friend who runs an 85 spg with several mods including a modded apc. He runs up to 18 pounds of boost and has no problems with the 2.8 fpr.
