I had a solid aluminum engine mount that I bought a while back from someone installed on my 86 SPG since i bought it in september. The original on the car was broken. I was advised to replace it with an OEM mount because of the vibration and noise. I finally did and WOW, the car is SO smooth now. No more wierd noises from the engine/drivetrain.
The solid mounts are probably good for high-performance / racing /rally applications but my 86 SPG is gennerally stock. It's pretty nice and thanks to Thor Carlson on Turbo! I learned to bolt in a piece of radiator hose inside the top bracket to fill the gap between the original rubber stopper. This supposedly tightens things up a bit. The aluminum one is still in perfect condition (it's pretty much undestroyable) and if anyone's interested in using this for race applications or whatever i'd make an even trade for a new OEM mount(for my brother's 900T). These solid mounts go for about $100 so i'll take a loss. Later folks..
