Eriksson is on the web at: http://www.erikssonindustries.com . I have just had one installed, and it's a little early to tell, but so far so good. According to my mechanic (who showed me his reciepts) out of the last six Eriksson units he installed, he had problems with only one, and said Eriksson was very good about fixing the problem unit free of charge. I was also told that Eriksson is actually SAAB's source here for factory rebuilt transmissions now, not sure if that is true or not. They are in Old Saybrook, CT. Also, when I had questions and called Eriksson, I was directed to the pro: the owner, and can tell you that their service is first rate. Any time the owner takes time to field technical questiojns himself, you know they value their customers.
The cold hard facts: the trans costs about $1650. I paid $2650 for the whole transplant (hmmm, and only a one year warranty!) which included replacing the belts and the engine rear seal gasket. It takes at least a week to get the transmission from Eriksson (in CT), and could probably take two elsewhere.
My suggestions: Make sure you go with a pro. If any of the work is done wrong, you might be right back at the mechanics for another transmission a week later or two years later. Either way, not good! Make sure it is tuned correctly: Go back to your shop if you don't think it's shifting right; according to Erikkson: "It should shift like butter". Finally, while yor mechanic has the engine out, have it checked for problems that can be more easily fixed with it out, like: belts (just do it!), motor mounts, engine gaskets, accessories (make sure the alternator and water pump spin easily) and anything else that looks bad.
Good luck Ken, LONG LIVE THE SLUSHBOX!!!
