Generally speaking, you do not want to let the car sit there and idle until it reaches operating temperature. Letting the car idle until it's warm will take quite some time, and the oil is less effective when it's cold. You wanna get the oil warm as quickly as possible. Additionally, when the engine is cold the fuel system runs rich to help keep a steady idle - this is bad for fuel economy and for emissions, not to mention your catalytic converter. As such, start the car, give it 20 or 30 seconds - maybe a minute - to get oil thoroughly circulated through the head and turbo, then shove off. Avoid full throttle acceleration and try to keep revs below 3000 rpm until normal operating temperature is reached. This is the fastest way to reach normal temps, and best for the car.
