Have removed a number of P.O.'s baked on car alarm decals, etc, all very old and tough - but not on the rear window.

Yes, the heating element is on the glass surface. If you nick it or lift a SMALL portion off with a sticker, there are repair kits, but don't know how durable/well they work. Anyway, best not to damage it. jaco has a good idea w/ the heat gun, but depending on how wicked the sticker adhesive is, you may well remove bits of heating element along with it. You'll have to be the judge on that. Maybe try a portion of the sticker far from the heating element first, and if it comes up easily, go for it. If not, try the following.

Personally, few things beat a razor blade and GooGone (or some other citrus-based adhesive remover; except that you might damage the interior, I'm a huge fan of acetone). Will make quick work of your stickers (was the owner a big Black Crows fan?).

What I envision for your case is to carefully trace the heating elements with your razor (no need to press hard and scratch the glass, just slice through the sticker plastic) - get as close as you are comfortable. The idea is to leave a very slim section of sticker over the heating element - one too small to notice casually.

Then, attack and remove the rest of the sticker: Cut numerous small slits in the sticker, wipe it w/ GooGone (it will wick under the sticker), then scrub the sticker off with the razor blade, stopping at the preserved slices over the heating element. I expect you best keep the razor in the vertical position, as using it horizontally may pose a risk of scratching the curved glass w/ the razor's sides/edges. Work slowly, it'll come off fine.

When you're done, you may find the slim bit of sticker remaining over the heating element will come off due to the GooGone, as well.

Good luck!
