wet floors,going to remove carpets any trick to this

in order to make it easier the drivers side rear is literally soaking. I wet
vacuuned it 2 weeks ago and it is still very wet. I want to dry carpets, clean them ,look for holes etc. Any tips or ideas that may help are greatly appreciated . Also is the console hard to remove my Dad is going to do this but he is very leary of this car.He is afraid he may do more
harm than good.
