Oil pump failure is RARE. The 2.1L can do it without warning. How do I know this .... I have one waiting for me in the morning!

The Other failure I have seen was after a head gasket was replaced on a 92 900 cv 2.1L motor. All was fine as we let it run for a half hour and test drove for a half hour and on pulling into the driveway ... the oil light came on! It took a set of oil pump gears and a cover to fix it.

The only other failure I have seen was a 86 9000S that dint have the oil changed in the last 12 -14000 miles and the oil ran low. The light came on and the owner added 4 quarts and the light still didnt go out. I just removed the cover and gears and hand worked them on Glass and #220 grit paper. Changed the oil about 4 times to clean it up. That was over 100,000 miles ago!
