when mine sticks - i pull the lever in the car (hood doesn't open) i go around to the hood and push down on it. it clicks and sometimes comes up. other times it clicks, doesn't come up so i pull the lever again -usually then it comes up. not a technical or long term solution. happens to me certain times of the year - similar to when the antenna doesn't like to retract all the way.

for a more appropriate approach bentley has an explanation (i recall, maybe) that requires a hook fed through the grill to grab the latch from outside. mines at home so hopefully others have a better explanation.

i've used silicone, lithium grease, and wd40 and nothing is a good solution. just this last weekend i added a plastic zip tie to the cable and the corner of the frame (at the headlight area) to pretension the cable. this has worked very effectively. previously i had tried all the bently suggestions regarding repositioning of the strike plate, etc to no avail.
