the wires on the starter should be self explanatory. There is a small wire which connects to the alternator which may be in the same area... it is possible that the battery is sulfated and internally shorted (long shot) or there is a short somewhere (better bet). Check the big + cable from the battery. One end is to the junction on the RHS fender and the other is on the starter stud. Disconnect it and make sure it is not shorted to ground. I had an '89 and had to replace this cable because the insulation was hard and flaking off. Good possibility for a short on this wire.
