Buy the gasket from SobStory. Clean out the old gasket and all residue very well so you have a clean mating surface. Fit the new gasket into the cover, and make sure it does not shake loose when you invert the cover. This is the key. You may need to soak the new gasket in hot water to make it flexible enough that it does not spring out of the groove in the cover. Invert the cover and screw into place, making sure not to exceed the torque spec (you really should use a torque wrench - you only need 15 lb to get a good seal).
While you are at it, you should replace the cam oilers - these are little plastic pipes that fit together with friction - only costs $5. If you are very careful to not overtorque and screw down evenly crosswise (as you would on a tire) it should fit up leak tight.
Good luck.
