I know that there's a design flaw with the catalytic converter that causes a sort of "rotten egg" smell to come into the cabin when powering through 4th or quickly decelerating from highway speeds (not braking but downshifting). I've rarely experienced it on mine but Saab issued a technical bulletin about it last summer. That might have something to do with it but can't say more for certain...
