Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I am in Mexico on business this week and do not get to read the BB as often as I would like (hourly).
I attached the fuel line using a suggestion from someone on this BB.
I took the old attachment elbow and cut the ferule off it.
I then inserted it into the plastic fuel line (with force).
I took a piece of 5/16 rubber fuel line and slid it over the plastic fuel line for about 1/2 an inch. I put a hose clamp on and secured the two together. The plastic ferule keeps the platic line from collapsing.
I then attached the other end of the 5/16 rubber line to the new check valve (with another hose clamp), and then installed it into the pump.
The total length of the 5/16th fuel line was probably 1.75 inches.
I fired up the car and checked for leaks (there were none).
It sure beat wrestling with that plastic line, and takine the chance of fatiguing it to the point of fracture.
