Joe-
Does the noise in reverse only happen when you apply the brakes, or all the time? It is a common problem for classic 900's to have a clunking noise when applying the brakes and backing up, it is caused by the sliding yoke not being a perfect fit to the calipers on the front brakes, and is generally nothing to be worried about, unless it bothers you.
