Hi everyone,

Last week I moved from Florida to Utah driving my 88SPG. Covered 2,400 miles....without one single problem with the SPG.

Alabama and Tennessee gave me my first opportunity to drive some winding (small)hills and it felt so good spooling up the turbo while going up and down and around the hills. Took some small scenic roads which were a blast to drive, the SPG stuck to the ground, driver and car were one (with a big ol'nasty grin on my face).

Having crossed through Missouri (you can spot that arch in StLouis far away!)and Illionis it was on to Nebraska (I-80) where the interstate speed limit is 75mph. Which of course means you drive at least 80....for hours and hours and hours, and when you want to pass...yup, spool up that turbo and up, up, and away...(see comment above on grin).

Once I entered Wyoming, the real fun began with it's majestic scenery and tortuous climbs. With the cruise set on 75, it became fun climbing the mountains and passing up all sorts of cars, and in particular, SUV's. Down the mountains, I could see everyone speeding up to catch momentum before the next climb...they would just about get even again with me and then up we went again, and back they fell again.

One car absolutely blew everyone away on an extremely long/steep uphill, a new 911, had to be doing at least 90 up the mountain. It felt like I was standing still when it passed me...very impressive.

Crossing into Utah I was extatic at 1) having finally made it, 2) the beautifull mountains and 3) the car was still driving great and it looked like I wouldn't need a tow home ;-).

In all I averaged around 27mpg and used up half a quart of oil. Oh yeah, and one extra stone chip on the windshield! What gives with the 91 octane out west, I was used to at least 93 back in Florida.

You really get a good feel for how diverse the US is on a trip like this, really is an amazing country...and really amazing how good it felt driving the SPG (heated seats really do help once your out of Florida!).

So now the realy question is...any know of a good mechanic in Salt Lake City?
