It varies...some Girling m/c disintegrate with wrong fluid

Specifically, I had trouble several years running with Castrol LMA DOT4...the brake fluid turned black after several weeks on my 87 900T with over 170K miles on it and the OEM m/c. I replaced the m/c and used Castrol LMA DOT4...same problem in a month and a sinking master cylinder/brake pedal in 6 mos. By a year later it had gotten so bad I had to replace the m/c yet again (Girling is only mfr of this apparently unique year, WTFDIK?); this time I used ATE blue DOT4.
FWIW, I also have Girling m/c on my 90 volvo 740T...it has also been converted to ATE blue DOT4 although I've used Castrol LMA DOT4 for years. It doesn't take too many $100 hits on components to sour you on Castrol LMA DOT4. And Castrol didn't do a #@$%#$@% thing about it other than to deny responsibility; their fluid meets all applicable SAE stds, yada yada yada. And Girling, fageddaboudit. Their attitude would be to say their suppliers vary and they are unable to duplicate the problem nor to determine the supplier of the particular seals involved.
After awhile you just give up and replace the part...it was a soft failure after all and not worth suing, although if I were a lawyer I might have considered filing a class action suit and getting all the poor suckers who have to deal with Castrol or Girling a $10 coupon/chit and pocketed a million simoleons in attorny's fees. Is this a great country or what?!
