you can do one of two things. 1. crop and renew, cut that section of steel out and have a new piece put in. 2. v and weld. but if you do it this way, you need to drill stop each end of the crack to keep it from continuing. then you bevel out the crack, throw a bead in there, back gouge the other side into the root of the initial weld, and then throw another bead. kind of a pain, but the result is a proper fix. this is the same type or repair i see all the time on commercial ships. we make them do it right. if you leave the crack, chances are it will spread since the car is undergoing continous stresses while you are driving. additionally, the crack has weakend the structural integrity of the car. take an impact at the right angle, and your car will be less likely to pull through better than if you had it fixed. just a few thoughts.
