I was sadden the other night when I notice a rust bubble under the black fender trim on both front fenders of my 83-900T. This wasn't too surprising since the car is 18 yrs old and has been driven on saltly winter roads the past couple of years.

I immediately removed the trim and scraped all the flakes of rust off with some dental tools and I'm now planning on putting several coats of naval jelly on the bare metal Is anything else I can do? Specifically has anyone come up with a good solution for keeping the road salt/dirt and water out from under the trim. I won't win this battle but I may be able slow
down the rate at which it spreads.

The car is in great shape (135kmiles) and I'd like to keep it around for a while.
