The hooter valve is pretty easy- you can disconnect any hose you want (minus the radiator hose- there should be no need for this). Removing the turbo intake pipe makes getting in there easier.
My advice for a novice (not meant to offend- i am too); label the hoses with tape to ensure they go back in the correct place (1 goes to 1, 2 goes to 2, etc..). Reverse engineer the items that connect to the valve. Hint: connect the 3.5MM vaccum hose to the valve, BEFORE you install and attach everything else- it's tough getting that hose on/off from the angle the valve sits.
The FPR- for safety disconnect the battery. Do the job with the engine cool/cold- not only is this more safe, but it will allow preassure to decrease (it shouldn't, but it will). I jammed a bunch of rags under the nut (the one that comes out at a 90 degree angle)- that captured the fuel well enough. If it does spray- it will only be for a second- and not very much. The real fuel comes from the rail as it drains back. The rubber coated connector peice from the rail to the FPR is ridgid- becarefull not to angle it up too much- it may snap. You'll want to angle it up, because fuel will keep coming out (about 1/2 cup). Some guys say they capture it in cup, but that seems impossible to me. I jammed a rubber plug into it- not sure what it was- just laying around the garage. It seaped, but worked. HINT: breaking the seal on the nut could be tough- make sure you use one wrench to steady the FPR and one to turn the nut. Just turnign the nut by itself could break the old FPR or moutning bracket.
Good luck
Wow- this was long- hope it helps.
