I put a 16v into an 88 8v car, based on Jack Ashcrafts directions from the first Saab Journal, and it ran, but was not all the easy to do. he simplifies it quite a bit, and a friend who is in engine management systems at GM (and knows Saabs) says that "it should not work" which might explain the starting problem that never went away. bottom line was it turned out to be a money pit, as the 16v engine was an oil burner and the AT it had (which I had rebuilt) ended up slipping on us too. One thing I did learn was to get one of Andrews Inc's injection brackets. Chuck made several, but probably very hard to find. They have an 85 900S that has had the conversion done (if you are close to MN) and has many many happy miles on it, but then again, those guys are the experts. I sold the bracket recently or would offer it to you, but it has gone from car ot car, so there may be others out there. It took lots of "finagling" to get the thing to work right, like using the right distributor (not the EZK) and routing the cold start stuff correctly. Maybe not worth the effort?! I would not do it again.
Jim
