The line is there to suck out gases from the valve cover space to the inlet manifold but it needs a check valve to prevent pressurizing the valve cover when under boost. You can check operation by blowing and sucking on the line to be sure it works and is installed correctly (some of them are pretty subtle in the way they are labeled).
