The first thing to do is check all your fuses(several are involved)and that the vacuum swithes at the pedals are holding a vacuum when the brake and clutch pedals are released. Pull the vacuum hose off the vacuum pump in the driver's side fender well and suck on it, it should hold a vacuum. If not, and that is likely, since probably one of the switches slipped from the previous recent adjustment or one of the hoses cracked from being handled. The mechanic should fix it for free or just charge you a few dollars ofr a new section of hose.
If you want to fix it yourself, you have to get under the dash. It's easier if you remove the knee bolster, but not mandatory. Removing front seat helps so you can stretch out and takes less time than bolster. Check that the vacuum hoses are on the switches(up near the upper end of the pedals) and are not split at the connections. If the hoses are OK, then check that the little plates on each pedal are pushing on the switches enough to hold the vacuum. You can adjust the switches in their holders so they are pressed in enough to hold the vacuum. If they slip back out, the vacuum is released. While you're under there, make sure the chain has not fallen off the accelerator pedal.
