Not a detailer, so like most people I just like the most bang for the dollar and effort involved (~$15/bottle; 1 bottle/2yrs+) and do it by hand. Race Glaze (polymer, not wax) is *very* easy on/off (assuming the paint is not oxidized badly). I find the protection/durability to be fantastic - a coat in fall protects all through till spring here during nasty north winters (ie water still beads up). However, harsh touchless car wash detergent seems to strip it after a couple washes. Hand washing, however, has no effect.
It really shines. After a few months, though, it won't be as bright/shiny, though still beads water for months longer. Also, I've found on my car that one shouldn't "build it up" or else it tends to cause swirl marks. Oddly, just on my hood though - this might just be contaminants on my paint/wax, I don't know. One coat every three months has worked well for me.
The P.O. always had it done professionally with Race Glaze and the look probably suckered me into buying the car. I just kept doing it. I personally didn't like the other items I had tried on my previous '82 (Turtle Wax and other varieties of hardware store stuff)
