Two different transmissions, Your dodge is transverse mounted. The 900 gearbox is mounted inline. The power transfer to the front wheels is much quicker with any transverse gearbox. Although, your 89 should have the bigger bearings. My parents 900 went over 200K with the origional box. They never dumped the clutch though. The transmission in the classic was never a strong point of the car.
