The accumulator has a diaphram and a nitrogen-charged space. The accumulator can run up to a few thousand PSI. Because of this, one should be VERY CAREFUL when working on the pressurized components of the ABS system.
It is, however pretty easy to depressurize the ABS system. Simply press the brake pedal repeatedly with the car off. Every time you press the pedal, you use up some of that pressure to provide boost. Another method would be to remove the fuse for the ABS pump, and with the engine running, press the brake pedal repeatedly. At some point the Anti-Lock and Brake Fluid lights will come on. At this point you still have lots of pressure left, because Saab designed the system to provide 10-15 stops of reserve. Keep pressing and releasing the brake pedal, and at some point you'll find it gets very hard. Then press it another dozen or more times. Now the system will be discharged.
