I have a Momo shift knob in my 86 SPG and it's very nice to the touch. Just pull the old one off, and put the new one on. It clamps down with 3 screws. Also, if you get a leather boot, make sure there is no threaded plastic or metal pieces on the top of the boot. you need an all leather, only leather part and you must install it from the base of the plastic shift collar like the current boot is installed. You'll have to probably put the boot on upside down (so that the wide part is up around the shift knob) and zip tie the thin part around the base of the shift collar. Pull the boot down around the stick and secure it on the bottom. It should look good and you wont see the zip-tie. Good luck.. i am planning on putting a leather boot on eventually too.
