clicker type around a year ago. Hard to get by with just one-a 1/2" isn't useful at the torque range the VC bolts need but the 3/8" is at it's extremes to do wheel lugs-forget about the really big stuff with it. But it's where I'd start. The beam type is less accurate, easier to knock out of adjustment and can not be re-calibrated. My recent 3/8" purchase was a replacement for a Taiwanese clicker wrench that cost only $15 and is still pretty accurate.
I have a third range as well, 3/8" 0-100 in-lbs. Great for M6 x 1.00 bolts requiring 8 ft-lbs of torque.
