My 1988 900 is slipping in reverse with quite a judder. Most up-shifts are smooth but now and then there is a delay. My worst problem is no 3 to 2 downshift, only a loud roar like it,is in neutral. Runs great on flat land but a real problem on hills. Cant find anyone to attempt band adjustments so I will probably go with a rebuilt unit from Ericksson in Connecticutt. I doubt that adjustments will cure our problems as I went through this with an 86 one time that someone adjusted and it ended up worse after 30 days.
Good luck. Mine has 121,000 on it.
