it's about impossible to find a new removable cD player. Everything is either detachable face or w/o detach face.
I had a Alpine CDA-7850 & didn't like it to much. For the price the sound wasn't as good as I was hoping for & the BBE & DHE sound modes simply added noise to the decks. The face was to flashy for me as well, I like simple layouts w/o lots of lights & buttons. It never skipped in my & I never had a problem with it but sold it after about 2 yrs of use :o)
After selling that I purchased the cheapest alpine deck ($170) which was used on my 3200 mile trip to florida. It worked fine & had ok powere considering I didn't use any of my adcom amps.
My next deck WILL be a Eclipse deck. I can't recall the model number but it has 16v pre outs, balanced outputs & lots of other beneficial stuff. Eclpise decks start around $250 & are not removeable but the manufacturer quarantees nobody will steal them in 2 yrs I beleive. If it is stolen, they will give you the replacement. Their decks are also much simpler in design & are more for SQ then gadgets :o)
