1983 900 Turbo FI Problems Part III (long)

Finally had some time to diagnose a hard starting problem when warm with my '83 900T. The problem is intermittant and seems to happen after a certain period of time. I baselined the ignition system and also fixed quite a few vacuum leaks. Here's what I found when I hooked up my JC Whitney Bosch CIS testing rig:
Fuel line pressure is 74 psi, borderline low on a Turbo. Cold control pressure is 31psi @ 75 degrees F, slightly out of range low. Hot control pressure is spot on at 51psi. Here's my favorite part:
Shutting off the engine results in a complete loss of rest pressure between 30 seconds and one minute. Sometimes it will pause at 21psi (minimum rest pressure spec) for a second or two, then it dives for the floor.
About 25 percent of the time, it will hold 36 psi for over an hour. When the pressure is zero, turning the key will bring it up to about 10psi, which gets the car started unless it's pretty warm. Retrying four or five times gets the car to start in the worst case, albeit stumbling all over the place.
Bentley says it's the accumulator or the fuel pump chack valve due to the rapid loss of rest pressure. Looks like I have an early pump with the internal check valve and no supply pump.
Any ideas?
Thank you in advance.
JD
