Check my reply to Andrew and click on the link. When I bought my '87 SPG the A/C was not working. The hoses were brand new, but the compressor was shot and the condeser leaked. I was blessed to find a fairly new compressor on a car in a junk yard some I took it and the condenser. I got new seals, expansion valve and receiver/dryer from Auto Parts International in Maryland. I installed everything and put the system in a vacuum ( I'm a HVAC tech. and have the necessary equipment). I charged it with something called ES-12, a hydro-carbon based refrigerant(?), that I read about on this BB. I wasn't blown away by the results. It worked great at highway speeds (42 degrees at the vent), but sucked idling (74 degrees). After using it on the job as a replacement for r-12, I decided to try it in the car. I'm glad I did. See for yourself.
