When I bought my 91 900 from the first owner, he had it garaged at home and at work. The paint was in perfect shape. After I bought it, I had it in my garage under a car cover for four years and drove it only a couple of times a month so it stayed perfect. For the last two years, we moved to our new house and, even with a two car garage, I have too much stuff stored in there so my car doesn't fit anymore. Since it is my daily driver now, it is outside in the California sun at work also. I try to use my car cover at work as much as I can, but you really have to have a very clean car, otherwise you do more harm than good. With the car being stored outside, this means I have to wash at least once a week for which I don't have the time.
At least, crime is absolutely no concern here but I definitely see the effect on the paint and especially the black plastic (bumpers, mirrors, etc). It used to be so perfect! Can't wait to clean out the garage and get it back in there. I already installed the garage door opener, which for me the is the ultimate luxury!
Try to find at least a parking spot with some shade but be careful of trees dropping stuff.
