You can get a reman'd starter for not terrible much money (about $125-150 I'd guess, my local mechanic gave me a great price on mine ($75)). Anyway, re: installing it, it's a bit of a pita because it's really awkward to get to the four bolts that hold the starter in place. If you haev the right tools (wobbly socket adapters and extensions, it's not too bad. Takes some serious wiggling to get it back in. Also, to get the two bolts that are toward the front end, you'll need a friend to hold the nut by using a screwdriver to keep it from spinning. You'll see what I'm talking about when you climb in there. At least the wiring is easy.

Expect about 300-350 to have someone else do it for you. My guy in MD is a cheaper, but he's unusual in that he's good and cheap.

Good luck. Fix it soon so you don't get stranded.
