Thought I would develop on headgasket for you...
What you see coming out of the tail pipe is likely water wapors that seeps into the engine due to a faulty headgasket. The water gets burned off after you start the car so after the engine has run for a while you may no longer see it. If you lose all the antifreeze within a day or two, this would indicate a very big leak into the engine. I don't know how much it costs to fix on a Saab, but work on a Mercury Cougar a few years ago set me back almost $1000. That was a V-6 engine so it may have been expensive due to that fact.
I suggest you take it to an auto shop (reputable) where they can see if you get exhaust into your cooling system. I think that is how the most commonly determine if it is a blown headgasket.
Good Luck,
Marcus
