Putting in new Tranny finally. Need some tips on several things !

Yeah, I finally put my tranny back together after working on it all winter. I have learned a ton and feel quite proud. Yesterday with the help of my friend I took out the engine and separated the Auto away from my 8 Valve! Everything is going fine, I have several concerns:
#1: While I was putting the tranny back together I cleaned it as well as I could with many shop towels and a lot of kerosene. I am certain that some small dust particle or piece of sand is in there cause it was like super hard to reach some of the places that had to be cleaned. I am wondering if there is a way to flush the tranny? If I run some oil through it or something and then drain it will some of the garbage come out with it??
#2: While I was rebuilding it I did not lube up any of the parts. Later a friend told me that all the parts need to be lubed up while you are putting the tranny together so that when you first start the engine everything is smooth. How can i lube the tranny now? (the covers are still down so I have some access!Perhaps I can combine a flush and lube??)
#3:What oil should I use? I have read a ton of the messages on this board and on the townsend website? Originally I thought that the factory suggested 10W30 would be fine, then I realized that in the cold Minnesota climate it might be tough shifting in the winted, it gets to -20 here. I really wanted to put Mobil 1 but someone told me it was bad for the synchros? So what should I do? I don't think I will be doing something fancy and expensive like Honda MTL, I just want a practical solution!
Thanks Guys!
Go Saab!
