The shock from the main coil wire is generally not enough to kill you although I suppose it could trigger a heart attack from fear alone if not the electricity. It will certainly make you hurt yourself jumping away as you bounce off the hood, the garage ceiling, etc. I have inadvertently shocked myself more than once. You can touch any of the high voltage wires while the car is running, but you may feel a tingle. This is a sign you need new wires. Keep your fingers out of moving parts or things that could start moving like the fans. Removing rings and watches is a good idea but I generally don't do it. Also, don't touch the exhaust manifold when the car has been running for a while. It gets very hot. Avoid other hot things like radiators and hoses. Do NOT open the radiator cap when the engine is hot.
