Well, it depnds on the car. Are you located in/or familiar with CT.? There are many Independent Saab repair shops in the area. Depending on the seller, it would be worth your $ to have an evaluation done to find out what is likely to be needed in the near future and then subtract the cost of those items from the asking price and then continue to negotiate.
I work in Milford and pass by WH everyday on my way home.
I might be able to swing by and check it out at some point and take a glance if you're interested in an unbiased second opinion.
I purchased my own 85 spg in Fairfield from an Mechanic/dealer back in 1994. I picked it up for $4000 w/176,000 miles, new exhaust, brakes and several other extras. I still drive it every day, though i have since replaced the power/train w/ '88 h20-cooled turbo motor, a rebuilt tranny, several CV joints, and many other odds and ends

-check for hidden body damage and rust.
-listen for tranny whine,
-Any turbo noise other than a slight whistle is something to be
concerned about.
-remember to shift and drive in reverse.
-do left and right sharp turns to listen for CV joint clicking.
-Check rear shock mounts for corrosion. They probably ok, but if not,
bail the deal.
-look for excessive white smoke out the tail pipe after about 5 or 10
minutes.

The price seems about right depending on condition ofcourse. It's no steal but if the body is really impressive w/ a clean interior, and a recently replaced tranny, the rest can be deal with.

Good luck.
