Last year, I bought a well preserved 1987 SAAB 900, 8 valve 5-speed standard. The only flaws the car had were the usual sagging headliner, few dashboard cracks, and faded bumpers. The car was still a baby with 140K miles, and ran like a charm. It had had an oil change every 3K miles since it was bought new, I had all the paperwork. I simply loved it.
About 5 months after I bought it, I was involved in a major accident with an 18 wheeler.....I walked away withought a scratch, however my nice little SAAB was damaged badly, actually, it was what you would call "totaled".
I parked it, and covered it with a tarp in the back of my house. Shortly after I bought a very nice 1985 SPG, in near perfect condition, that became my daily driver until I got this job. I work at a campground, and you have to cross an 8 mile dirt road to get there......I wasn't about to take me super nice SPG across the dusty/bumpy roads on a daily basis....so, I brought the '87 back from the grave. I brought it to a body shop, it needed: Rear hatchback/glass, rear side window glass, rear bumper, a new rear panel as well as the frame needed to be starightened, and dents needed to be popped out of the hood, and other parts on the body.
Its all in the process of being done, and I am looking forward to driving my 900 again!
